I think I speak for all women when I say: “please stop buying us heart necklaces, we have enough.” We would love something personal and meaningful. Are you in need of some gift ideas for that special someone in your life who loves all things fashion and style? You’ve come to the right place! Here are my top 10 items I recommend for any fashion lover.
This is a great gift idea for the truly fashion obsessed. Vintage fashion magazines or even up-to-date fashion magazines is a fashion lovers dream. Seeing all the latest insights and styles is so exciting. You want to go with higher end fashion magazines like VOGUE, ELLE, Vanity Fair etc. Current issues are as little as €10/£8.50. Vintage magazines range from €29-€68/£25-£60 and can be found on Ebay.
2. Virtual Colour Analysis Session
In my opinion this is the Perfect gift! If your fashion loving friend/ family member has not done this yet, I can guarantee you they’ve heard about it and tried to figure it out for themselves. Getting a professional service done like this – one that requires very little time and effort for you and your loved one – is an ideal gift. A colour analysis is the foundation to everyone’s wardrobe, what they learn in the session is massively money saving in the long run. The session includes:
This is a service I offer, for booking or more details contact me via email: info@rebeccaannieedits.com
3.Winter boots
You can’t go wrong with a good pair of Winter boots. We all need a good pair of boots to wear this season, whether we’re going into the office, to a party, or meeting a friend for coffee – it is a wonderfully versatile and practical gift. You can choose to make it more personal depending on how well you know the giftee. A heeled leather boot is a general crowd pleaser. You can choose your price range, pick a simple neutral colour, like black/dark brown. But if you know a little more on what they would like, you could opt for a chunky Doc Marten boot, a bolder colour or a loud print. Pricing ranges from €50/£40-€140/£125.
4. Jeans
I can tell with a certainty, every single women struggles to find a pair of jeans that fits them right, the trick is usually to buy a good pair, like Levi’s – but they are an investment. If you know your loved ones measurements, or simply don’t want to just hand them a gift card, buy them a simple classic pair of dark wash straight leg jeans. Tailor your choice to fit their needs even if you don’t know their measurements; tall, petite, curve (not necessarily being plus size, but if she has more hips and bum) etc. Levi jeans are typically between €85/£70-€130/£110. Regardless of if they are a fashion lover or not this is a gift that will definitely be greatly appreciated.
5. Fashion Photography
Fashion girls are often the creative type, so will like appreciate photography in general but specifically fashion photography, you can keep it simple for someone you don’t know as well by just buying a couple of fashion posters, relatively inexpensive – ranging from €2.50/£3-€25/£30; or to do that little extra put the posters into some nice frames, a classic black frame is a great option, but if you know that they like a bit of colour pick a nice high contrasting frame to go with your chosen poster. You can buy your frames and posters on Etsy, Ebay or even Facebook Marketplace.
6. Annual VOGUE Magazine Subscription
If your fashion loving friend does not already have a fashion magazine subscription, this is such simple buying process and a gift that keeps on giving – each month when they get their magazine (hardcopy or digital) they will think of you. VOGUE magazine annual subscription is only $36 (currently on offer for only $10!) for the digital subscription. For the digital and printed subscription it is $72 (which is also on offer for only $15). Personally, I would recommend the digital and printed subscription, especially if they like to collect fashion magazines.
7. Handbag
This is a very versatile gift, you could get a nice real leather handbag for just €30/£26-€50/£44 or spend upwards of €300/£265. Again like picking jeans, keep it simple and classic, a good structured bag in a neutral colour like black, navy, brown or camel if you’re not sure exactly what they would like. But if you do, try a slouchy shoulder bag, or a bolder colour. A great place to shop for handbags is TK Maxx, as they have a great range in colour, style and price.
8.Gift Voucher
We can’t forget the classic gift voucher, though less personal, it is genuinely appreciated! It is even better sometimes to get this for someone who is picky or hard to buy for, letting them go in and shop (which is half the fun) is a gift in itself. Make it slightly more personal by choosing a voucher for their favourite place to buy clothes. Some suggestions are H&M, Zara, Next, M&S, New Look etc. Another great voucher to receive is for make-Up, you could go more general like a Boots voucher, but if you want to impress and look like you’re in the know with these things, a Milk Make-Up, Rare Beauty, Fenty Beauty or Glossier voucher is the way to go – these brands are high quality and trending all over social media right now.
9. Book of Fashion History
For the more literarily inclined ones and absolutely fashion obsessed I would highly suggest a book all about fashion, it a unique gift to give. You could go into any book shop and simply ask for recommendations, but some with great reviews are: ‘Fashion: The Definitive History of Costume and Style’, ‘20,000 Years of Fashion: The History of Costume and Personal Adornment’, ‘Timeless: A Fashion Anthology’. Prices range from €30/£26-€50/£44 and can be found in most book shops.
10. Sewing Lessons
Now this might not be for everyone, but people with fashion interests vary; some prefer to read about it, others to look at it and yet some love to create and design. If your loved one is the latter but yet to explore it, gifting sewing lessons gives them the tools to help them design and create their very own pieces. Sewing lessons is just a start, but of course you could also look into the accessories that come with fashion designing, like a bust, sewing machine, sketch pads/pencils, fabric etc.
Buying gifts for people is not always easy, but I hope these suggestions make it a little bit easier. I would love to hear from you if you take one of my suggestions.
Until next time,
Rebecca Annie

‘All I ever see you wear is black, white and grey’, were the words of my friend’s husband to me, after I had showed up wearing a red poncho. Honestly, I can’t even remember the entirety of the conversation, but nonetheless this comment stayed with me. He wasn’t wrong! But I love colour, why wasn’t I wearing any? I had just discovered colour analysis, was completely obsessed and totally scared to get it wrong. In my Winter colour palette black, white and grey were my ‘safe’ colours – the colours I could definitely wear and already had without having to buy a whole new wardrobe.
Once I had understood colour analysis, I never wanted to wear the wrong colour again and it should have been a relief to know I had a guide of exactly what I should wear (a colour palette) – but it wasn’t, I was very overwhelmed.
After the ‘black, white and grey’ comment had been made, I knew I wanted to make changes! I know exactly what to wear now so I need to start embracing it. But… as you can probably guess – it was not that straightforward, I went completely the other direction and started wearing every colour all together – it was not a good time in my fashion history.
But that’s what I’m here for, to help you avoid the mistakes I made.
So you want to add colour to your wardrobe but don’t know how? Step one find out what colour’s actually suit you through colour analysis (for enquiries visit my Instagram or email me: info@rebeccaannieedits.com). Knowing your specific colour palette helps by removing all doubts of what suits you. In a colour analysis session (which is 100% virtual btw) I teach you your colour season and more specifically your sub-season (and more about colour colour analysis!), which includes 80 shades curated just for you.
Now to avoid the mistake I made once I knew my colour sub-season, let’s talk about how to incorporate your new found knowledge into your wardrobe.
Three of my personal favourite methods to use when styling an outfit are:
2:1 Rule
A traditional rule in fashion is for an outfit not to have more than three colours – this is not something I don’t stick to religiously, I’m not a big fan of fashion rules, however when you are only wanting to dip your toe into the pool of colour, this is a great guideline to stick to.
The 2:1 rule means having two neutrals and one pop of colour. It’s pretty simple, but when I discovered this, it totally changed the game. Choose two different neutrals from your colour palette – this will depend on your sub-season, but typically grey, white, navy, cream, black etc. Then you want to add your pop of colour, this can basically be any other colour from your palette – pinks, blues, greens, purples.
Some combinations I like:
Black, espresso brown and a chili red
Denim blue, charcoal grey and empress teal
White, spanish grey and royal blue
The 60-30-10 Rule
This is very similar to the 2:1 Rule, but it originates with interior design. It gives you a little bit of room for creativity, for the braver ones among us. It means 60% of your outfit should be the primary colour, usually the bottoms. 30% is the secondary colour, usually the top and finally 10% as a pop of colour, like shoes or jewelry. The rule of using neutrals is not included. This is something you can really play around with and make styling your outfit more fun.
The Sandwich Method
As it says in the name, you are sandwiching one colour between another; matching the colour of the top to the shoes, and then the skirt/trousers being a different colour. For example, a pink blouse, grey skirt and pink heels. This helps the outfit to be overall more cohesive.
I find all of these methods a really good introduction to adding colour to your outfit. Something else I try to do, is laying out and styling my outfit the night before, because changing your style and glowing up starts with the everyday, not just special occasions. So even if you’re just going to work, university or have errands to run, making an effort is important because it makes you feel confident in yourself. As someone who works from home, this is particularly important, yes you don’t need to dress up fancy to be at home, we’re not all Nara Smith, but simply a pair of jeans and a nice blouse makes all the difference. It also helps you shift your mindset and enter ‘work mode’ even if you’re working from your couch.
Until next time,
Rebecca Annie

UGH!! I have NOTHING to wear! (She said having a wardrobe full of clothes). Can you relate? I know I can. Trying to pick an outfit has definitely got to be in the top 10 most frustrating things to do. It’s so silly though isn’t it? We see what celebrities are wearing, we buy what’s available and trending in the shops and yet something just doesn’t feel right. Why? Well, one reason: maybe you don’t actually know what you like when it comes to fashion.
We get so much content poured into us from social media of everything everyone is wearing, so we think we know what we should wear, but in reality, it’s not that easy. I know it sounds basic but have you ever actually asked yourself: ‘What do I like?’ Your preferences definitely change as you enter different seasons of life, but what about right now, what do you like now? And though I am a big supporter of simply changing your mind, sometimes we just don’t like something anymore and that’s ok, but changing our fashion identity weekly is unrealistic, expensive and bad for the planet.
So how can we stop wasting our time, money and energy and just start wearing what makes us feel our best? Do your research. If you just typed in fashion aesthetics, you would probably get an influx of information; from old money, to dark academia and soft girl aesthetic… it all gets a bit complicated.
So to break it down simply, there are five basic Fashion Personalities: Preppy, Hipster, Sporty, Boho and Classic. Now before you freak out and think I’m trying to put you in a box and you have to choose or be one of these down to a ‘t’ – I’m not and you don’t. These are a basic GUIDE. You may like elements from two or more personalities, which can be beautiful and also what makes your style unique.
When we think of preppy fashion we’re thinking Ralph Lauren style blazers and Polo jumpers tied over your shoulders. Imagine Lily Van Der Woodsen, this pretty much sums up the whole aesthetic. Clean, simple, expensive – this is where I imagine the old money aesthetic rooted from. This style is elegant, people have always admired this style. Think of structured tailored pieces: button-down shirts, chinos, pleated skirts. In this fashion personality, there is a lot of high quality materials – wool, cashmere and linen. The colour palette typically consists of neutrals like beige, navy, white, black, olive green and prints like plaid and stripes. Lydia Millen and Sofia Richie are prime examples of the posterboard for preppy style.
OK firstly ‘Hippie’ and Hipster are NOT the same thing. Hipster is probably the exact opposite, we’re thinking leather, Doc Martens and band t-shirts. It tends to be the uniform for the complex, interesting and often misunderstood female lead of that indie movie you love. Typically retro, vintage with modern influences. One thing I love about this style is there is a deeply unique, individualized element, and being beautifully eclectic, each person will have their own twist – this style stands out and goes against the grain – and don’t we all love a little bit of cheeky rebellion? Prints are big in this fashion personality; cheetah, plaid, windowpane and chunky stripes. In relation to material, as already mentioned – leather, but also a lot of denim, some corduroy and pops of lace. Colour is not a huge element to this personality necessarily, primarily A LOT of black with white and grey, but you will notice some strong contrasting colours, coming into play with a band t-shirt or a small floral print (usually with a black background base). Celebs tend to dip in and out of this style when it comes back around in trends, but one who has stayed loyal is Avril Lavigne, who represents the typical ‘Skater Girl’ aesthetic this fashion personality is usually tied to.
You may instantly think ‘sporty’ is just people wearing athleisurewear – it’s not and wow I really wish that trend would die, can we please stop ONLY wearing sweats?! There is such a beautiful world of fashion out here, make an effort – for no one other than yourself. But, yes obviously the sporty personality does incorporate elements of athleisurewear, but there is so much more. It is actually quite popular right now; some key pieces include baseball caps, oversized anything (t-shirts, sweaters, jeans, sweats etc) chunky trainers like New Balance and also the classic Jordans and Chuck Taylors, barrel jeans. This fashion personality prioritizes comfort, so you will see very little structured pieces, but occasionally an oversized blazer with loose fitting straight legged trousers . The colour palette varies from neutrals like beiges, greys, black, browns and navy’s, to louder brighter colours, like neon’s. There is little to no patterns seen, maybe a graphic t-shirt or crew neck sweater. Probably the most known celebs for this is Rihanna and Billie Eilish – who gives the perfect example of mixing two fashion personalities, primarily her style structure is sporty but she often includes element of the hipster style; both of their styles are different of course, but have the same basic connection to the Sporty Personality.
I love this fashion personality, I think one thing I love about it is the fact that when people see someone dressed this way, they assume certain stereotypes associated with this style. But often, like most things, it’s unsuspecting and surprising. This fashion personality brings a rebelliousness, in a less obvious way then maybe the hipster style. In this fashion personality we’re seeing a lot of flowing fabrics, an element of 70’s style; a good clunky heeled boot, flared jeans, hair scarves etc. Materials range from denim, soft cottons and some leather detailing seen in good belts and shoes. Some classic pieces seen here are handkerchief hems, platform clogs and a good tasseled bag. Prints vary, but known most famously for paisley, floral and geometrics. Celebs we often see wearing this fashion style: Paris Jackson, Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Richie.
Finally, let’s take a look at the Classic fashion personality, probably the one that is trending most right now, it fits with the ‘Clean Girl’ make-up. This style embodies simplicity, chicness with some mild edgy undertones. It differs from Preppy style because, it does not elicit the same elite status. Classic lends itself to be slightly more adventurous, exploring bolder colours and prints while balancing soft chicness. Materials include, leather, cotton, denim and wool. Most prints are included, but are never so bold they are distracting; houndstooth, check, stripes, polka dots. Colours are typically neutral – black, white, navy, cream, greys but often have a subtle pop of colour. We often see jewel tones used as a high contrasting colour to add a little something, emerald greens, chilly reds, magenta pinks etc. When we think of this style we can think of the typical French fashion, straight leg dark denim jeans, an oversized blazer, a houndstooth print mini skirt and knee high leather boots. To find inspiration we do not have to go far, as most people online are trying their hand at this style, and honestly I understand why, it never really goes out of fashion, it’s timeless, much like the Preppy style. What I prefer about Classic > Preppy, is the room to be a little bit more experimental.
Now that you know what’s out there, which one do you like most? As already mentioned you don’t have to only dress according to one style at all times, but for wardrobe cohesion and making your decisions easier its important to have a ‘root’ style, one main fashion personality at the core of your fashion identity. Personally, I think having more than two other ‘accessory’ personalities, gets too distracting and confusing. So pour over all the different images out there for each fashion personality, find what you like, choose your ‘root’ and your ‘accessory.’ Then play around with the possibilities. You can do this before buying anything, use Pinterest to find individual pieces and get creative, build your own outfits, see what works.
Until next time,
Rebecca Annie
