to RAE, aka Rebecca Annie Edits, I’m so happy you’re here!
If you hadn’t guessed it, I’m Rebecca Annie. As I mention in my ‘About’ section, I am a personal stylist and colour analyst. My journey started when I was 17 and got a job in a luxury homeware and fashion store. I started to notice when women would enter our fitting room, they would often search for the opinion of the trusted sales assistant, with little to no idea of what really worked for them. I felt deeply connected to them in these moments as I had also felt this way every time I was in a fitting room. Later, I stumbled across colour analysis on my FYP, and I was HOOKED. I had never heard of colour analysis before, but it made sense – for the first time fashion became slightly less intimidating.

I proceeded to scour the internet of every. single. video. about colour analysis – reading as much as I could. Over the years I picked up more and more and would do it for fun with friends and family, trying to figure out what season they were, what colours looked best on them and why. Eventually, I left that job and moved away, I obviously needed another job, but the idea of going back into retail was not for me – although my experience was truly enjoyable. I had a Business Administration qualification, but again the idea of working in an office also did not appeal.
So as all lost and confused girls in their early 20’s do – I talked to my best friend. I didn’t think it would be possible to get trained in colour analysis or personal styling, but with a lot of research I found a course that covered everything I wanted. I did the work and the studying and the reading and the assignments. I got certified!
Some time later and now I’m on a journey to help women feel confident in their own skin, learning to dress for their bodies. I once felt overwhelmed and excluded from the elite world of fashion. Fashion is creative and beautiful, and I truly believe it is an art form – but it can translate into being practical, affordable and achievable. I want to include everyone into the beauty of fashion and design, to show that you too can feel as confident as the girls on the cover of VOGUE. You don’t need to throw out everything you own and start from scratch, unless you want to, but I want to teach you how some small edits make a huge difference. Fashion doesn’t have to be overwhelming – that’s what I’m here for!
So Lesson 1: Stop Wearing According to The Trends
No, I am not a trend hater, honestly I’m quite fascinated by them, having studied fashion history and understanding why certain items come back around, noticing different styles from different time periods popping back up on the runway, its exciting to see what is happening in the realm of fashion today. But what I am saying is, not everything you see on Instagram is meant for you. I love to get some fashion inspo – don’t get me wrong, but knowing how to pick and choose what will work for you is so important. There may be certain colours and themes trending or every I.T girl is wearing – but it doesn’t mean it will suit you, it may not even suit them.
Colour analysis was my first step into the world of fashion out of interest and easiness to understand. But really it should be everyone’s first step, learning your colour palette is literally the simplest step you can take and it will immediately rule out half out of the fashion decision making.
Wear what makes YOU glow, not whatever is on your FYP. We all have different style preferences, maybe you have never fully explored what you like or all the possibilities. In my next post I will dive into the different style types, and teach you how to start dressing for you. Here’s to to editing your style, finding your colour palette and feeling amazing every time you get dressed.
Until next time,
Rebecca Annie
